What is Sex Addiction?

Sex Addiction is any type of ‘out of control’ sexual activity that results in negative consequences, and in spite of the physical, emotional, relational, financial and even judicial cost of these activities, a sex addict will be unable to stop this behaviour.

Are you struggling with a sex or porn addiction or seeking support to break free from its grip? You’re not alone. I offer specialised sex addiction help and support in Cheshire and across the North West. With a discreet and empathetic approach, I’m here to guide you on your journey to healing and recovery.

Understanding Sex Addiction

Like all addictions, this behaviour causes distress and despair for the individual and his/her partner and family. The addict will spend an exceptional amount of time planning, engaging in and recovering from their chosen sexual activity. This kind of addiction can, and often does progress until sex becomes the most essential need, and more important than family, friends, or work.

Out of control sexual behaviours are used to anaesthetise psychological pain. The addiction is just like an alcoholic who takes to the bottle or a compulsive gambler who fixates on the next win to avoid the pain of life, a sex addict will choose sex as their coping mechanism.

Sex addiction is a powerful force that can lead to negative consequences in all aspects of your life. Despite the toll it takes on your physical, emotional, and relational wellbeing, breaking free can feel insurmountable. If you’re looking for compassionate and dedicated help and support, contact me today. I work with clients in Manchester, Liverpool and across the North West.
